India is at a crossroads today, on one hand there is hope with a likely solution emerging for the Kashmir crisis, but on the other hand there are still plenty of issues threatening the peace of the country, particularly the ULFA activities in Assam and more recently the Tibetan issue which is proving to be a big threat to the nation. There is also the additional threat of sponsored nuclear terrorism from other countries. Either way it is the people who bear the brunt of any disturbance in the country. Thousands of people have died in terror ridden states like Kashmir and Assam. Even relatively peaceful states like Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh have been witness to terror attacks lately.

But the good news is that we can all contribute to creating a culture of peace. Effective peace-building is possible only through nonviolent conflict resolution. With a small gesture we can help hundreds of people and ensure that they lead better lives.
